Quality Benefit of Modular Homes

The quality of modular homes equals or exceeds the quality of site built homes.  For the reasons detailed below, along with the consistency of factory production you can be sure that you when you buy a modular home you are getting a home that was built in ideal conditions by a trained workforce using systems designed by engineers and production specialists.  A site built home, no matter how well planned by an architect or engineer, is still subject to the realities of inclement weather and a changing workforce.

In addition, modular homes are continually inspected by in-house and third-party inspectors for quality and workmanship as well as for code compliance throughout production.  If there are any questions, an engineer can be called to the factory floor from his onsite office in minutes. Site built homes are only inspected for code compliance at staged intervals of construction.

STRENGTH

Modular Homes have more Lumber than stick built because they are transported by tractor trailer to the site and each home must be strong enough to transport on highways. In addition modular homes are built with a separate ceiling and floor system meaning when you are on the second floor you’re not standing on the ceiling of the floor below. Our factories only use the highest quality kiln dried lumber will. Green, warped, badly knotted or splintered pieces will not work with precision equipment in the assembly line and are therefore rejected. This is important to the overall quality of the home because poor quality lumber is more likely to dry unevenly causing it to warp, twist and split. Additionally, all other materials including electrical, plumbing, drywall, insulation, and finish materials are chosen because of their quality and reliability which has been proven in thousands of homes

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Modular Homes are built from the inside out which means we can insulate every last through wall penetration from the outside. This simply can’t be done with onsite construction.

SKILLED WORKFORCE

Workers in a modular factory are divided up into different areas of production specialties including floors, walls, roofs, trim, plumbing, electrical, and others. This allows each section of the modular home to be built simultaneously and skillfully by individuals who are masters at their craft.

CLIMATE CONTROL

Modular homes are constructed in a climate controlled factory. This prevents weather related damage, delays, and poor workmanship due to extreme temperatures.

QUALITY CONTROL

Modular homes are inspected throughout the entire construction process both by internal quality control inspectors and third party inspection agencies. These inspectors are both planned and unannounced. It is important to note that inspections are for both quality control and code compliance. Site-built home inspections are inspected only for code compliance. This means that if a home is poorly built, but meets code, the inspector must pass it.
